The Parish Burial Ground

The Churchyard at St Michaels in Shute having served the Parish for many years was declared full and formally closed the new burials.

This does not mean the Church is closed !  It is very much open for business.

Knowing that space was running out, the Parish Council negotiated with the National Trust and bought a small area of land adjacent and to the south of the original ground.  It is known as the Shute Parish Burial Ground and it is estimated that this area will last for at least the next 40 or so years.  The area has been consecrated, but is open to all residents of the parish (or those with close ties) be they of any faith or none.  Our charges and regulations are set out below
